A Bathroom Shaped by Time

Nashville, Tennessee

This East Nashville bathroom is shaped by layers of time and cultural memory. The original log cabin, first built in the 1940s, and reimagined again in the 1970s, has existed alongside Nashville’s music history — once serving as a guest house to visiting artists, including Elvis Presley, and later passing through the hands of musicians and songwriters across generations. The design responds to that lineage with a language that feels both architectural and lived in: bold vertically stacked tile, marble flooring, and unlacquered brass fixtures that will continue to age alongside the home. A custom walnut vanity introduces warmth and restraint, grounding the room in craftsmanship while subtle shifts in texture and pattern echo decades of reinvention. The result is a room that honors not only the cabin’s physical evolution, but the quiet, creative life that has unfolded within its walls.
